Aptly named, Sea View Cottage is nestled at the end of an unmade track in the rural hamlet of Acton which is almost surrounded by National Trust land and a haven for walkers, just off the South West Coastal Path with many enjoyable walks available from the door. Built in the mid-1800s, all 4 bedrooms, the kitchen, living and dining room have breath taking countryside and sea views.
The large detached cottage is built in traditional Purbeck Stone from the local quarry and has been modernised whilst keeping every aspect of its charm and many original features.
Beautifully furnished throughout, the cottage is set over 3 floors. Downstairs comprises of a cosy living room with logburner with Purbeck Stone lintel, dining room with large table and space for 8 diners plus an additional log burner, step up into a modern and well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. There’s also a hallway for boots with ceiling mounted drying rack, snug TV room, utility area and shower room with W.C. with partial underfloor heating.
Steep stairs lead to the first floor where there is a double bedroom, twin room and large, stylish family bathroom with both bath and separate shower. Enjoy some glorious sea and country views whilst brushing your teeth!
A second steep staircase to the top floor with king size bedroom with en-suite, and twin bedroom. Please note there is some reduced head height entering both the bedrooms.
Sea View Cottage has a large rural garden laid to lawn with mature trees and shrubs. A large table and chairs allow al fresco dining or simply a chance to relax and enjoy the stunning view! The low stone wall encloses the garden and draws the eye across the rolling fields and to the sea beyond. On a clear day the Isle of Wight and the Needles can be seen in the distance. Please be aware that there may be livestock grazing in fields nearby and dogs should be kept under control. There is no access to the field directly from the garden due to drop down from stone wall but plenty of walks can be quickly accessed straight from the door.
The cottage offers extensive views from all the rooms. If you’re staying in colder months fire up the log burner and if you’re lucky enjoy a spot of storm watching from the comfort of your armchair.
There’s something to suit everyone at Sea View Cottage, relax in the peace and quiet, go for a walk along the South West coast path and take in the stunning delights of the Jurassic coast including Dancing Ledge. It’s a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute walk across fields) to Langton Matravers where there is a village shop, Post Office and pub. Visit the famous Square and Compass pub in the nearby village of Worth Matravers and sample pasties, local ales and ciders or take a 10 minute drive to Swanage with its family friendly sandy beach and historic steam railway. A 10 minute drive in the opposite directions takes you to the historic ruins of Corfe Castle.
Please note there is a rural campsite nearby that operates during the summer months. This should not affect your stay however please be aware there is a small chance of occasional noise.
There’s no landline at the property but mobile phone signal is generally good.

Lovely property well situated and with much needed parking!
We will definitely book with Wyke Dorset Cottages again. Online booking was easy to use, correspondence received was full of information and the property was fabulous. Credit to the owner for such a beautiful and well equipped house and an amazing welcome pack.
My most important criteria is cleanliness and this property was spotlessly clean. Very well fitted out especially the kitchen. Very spacious property with nice garden for family games and eating outside. The property is well situated for the local attractions like beaches, historic sites and walks.
We thought Sea View, Acton was a fabulous place that was exactly what we wanted to celebrate a special birthday. Sue, the owner, had obviously gone to so much trouble thinking of all the little touches that made us feel welcome and everything had a really friendly warm feeling about it. The cottage had had so much care and attention lavished on every little detail and it was a great pleasure to stay there. It's not often that one feels that something like this had exceeded our expectations but in this case that was definitely true !
Great location for visiting attractions, beaches and National Trust places within a 30 minute drive. Walkers paradise. Perfectly situated for walking to the Square and Compass. A great week spent with family, celebrating a special birthday.
A wonderful welcome basket and even towels for the dogs! We loved the cottage!
