Half Term in Swanage and Purbeck

Thinking of a last minute break with the children this half term? There is plenty of family events to keep them amused and active in Swanage and the surrounding area - come rain or shine!

Don’t forget to bring your teddies on holiday with you – take them along to Corfe Castle and see if they are brave enough to take on the Teddy Zip Wire Challenge in the grounds of the Castle. Whilst the Teddies are recovering, let the children use their imagination and try their hand at being the next J K Rowling with the Wild Writing and Inventive Stories Workshop.

This year being the 100th Anniversary of World War 1, why not explore our War History at the Bovington Tank Museum and take part in ‘The 1940’s Experience’. Children in 1940’s fancy dress go free! As well as viewing all the Tanks and Vehicles on display you can meet ‘The Home Guard’, watch demonstrations of wartime home crafts and try the 1940’s lunch time specials menu in the restaurant.

Pull on your wellies and venture down to Studland Beach and take part in the Seashore Scavenger Hunt, you never know what you might find whilst you help the National Trust to keep the beach clean.

The little ones will love meeting and feeding the animals at Putlake Farm and Farmer Palmers. Both have indoor play areas, so the kids can let off steam whilst the adults enjoy a brew!

For the older ones - try Splashdown at nearby Tower Park and maybe combine it with a trip to the cinema to watch the latest films.

Whatever the weather Swanage has loads of events and attractions to keep you all occupied during the day, and check out our Food and Drink page of recommendations of where to eat and drink in the evenings.
