Welcome to the new Swanage Lifeboat

Swanage folk are very proud to greet the arrival of our new state of the art Shannon Lifeboat to the waters along the Dorset Coast. The George Thomas Lacey arrived on Friday 8th April with a great Swanage flotilla welcome of local boats and rigs, the rescue helicopter and hundreds of people lining the Victorian Pier.

Our new Lifeboat will remain moored in the bay whilst work continues on the fantastic new Lifeboat Station, due to open at the end of the summer.

Last year the Swanage Lifeboat crews were called out 45 times to incidents along the Dorset Coast. Most of these were in the summer months so when you come to stay please make sure you know how to keep yourself safe in the water. the RNLI provides good advice on keeping safe.

You can see the George Thomas Lacey up close from our lovely properties at The Haven Complex: 15 The Haven still has some availability in June and September, The Haven Roof Terrace has some availability in the summer months, Water's Edge Balcony Apartment has availability out of the main season, you can still book Ballard View in the summer months and Pebbles also has some weeks still available.

You can also watch the continuing training and exercises for the crew from many of our properties. Places such as Penthouse Grand View, Seas The Day and The Pinnacles all have amazing views across the bay.

Swanage Lifeboat week is the 12th to 21st August. You can build a boat, rescue the damson in distress and watch the lifeboats and rescue helicopter perform amazing "rescues" in the bay. It's a great time to be in Swanage!
