Purbeck Pirate Festival

Shiver me timbers! It's the Purbeck Pirate Festival this weekend and we're the main sponsor. Come and say "AAARRRRRHHHHH" to us at our stand near the pier in Swanage and put your name into the bin to receive a copy of next year's magazine.

This newly-fledged festival is hosted by Swanage Pier Trust, (who need to raise a whopping £900,000 to achieve Lottery match-funding to save the pier for generations to come), and the world famous Frigate Shtandart - the exact replica of the Russian Naval Flag Ship of 1703, originally commissioned and sailed by Tzar Peter the Great.

The Isle of Purbeck is absolutely delighted and hugely honoured to be working with the Shtandart on this first for the UK, you may have spotted the Shtandart recently in the movie blockbuster, 'Pan', or in ITV's Boxing Day special, 'Peter and Wendy'. It has also featured, along with Captain Vladimir, on the BBC's recently-aired series on the Tzars of Russia.

During the festival, there'll be pirates galore, canon and musket fire, walking the plank and off-shore treasure hunts with sailing ship, Moonfleet, who have teamed up with outdoor experts, Cumulus Outdoors, to provide some truly exciting activities for the whole family!

We'll have tours of the Shtandart and insights into the ship's fascinating history as it moors alongside the historic Swanage Pier.

There'll be the Pirate's Rum Tent and BBQ throughout the festival, along with other delicious edible delights to keep you going!

Shanty singers and pirate bands will be entertaining, and we're hoping for a bit of theatre too....

Kid's activities galore throughout - bring the whole family for a really affordable, fun-filled time! Don't miss the Kid's Pirate Disco on Friday night - with an actual one-legged pirate DJ!
