Swanage Regatta and Carnival

Written by Nadine Evans on

Swanage is in the middle of the best week of the year – Regatta and Carnival week.

So far we’ve seen the crowning of the Carnival Queens, extreme cyclists, fireworks, live music and the Procession. The Carnival bars have been overflowing and the Pimms and Prosecco tent has been a clear favourite.

Over the week Swanage will see wacky races, kayak races, wheelbarrow races, swimming races and Go-Kart races. There will be bowls, darts, boules, biathlons, putting, pool, angling and tennis competitions. Crabs will be caught, treasures will be found, barn dances will be do-si-do’d  and vintage cars will be proudly shown off. Adults will be dressing up for the Masquerade night and children will be dressing up for the fancy dress disco. Sand will be sculpted, pavements will be decorated and talents will be discovered. And when everyone feels they’ve experienced all that the Carnival week can offer, they will be entertained by live music throughout the week.

The "What's Not My Line" has been driving people to distraction! How on earth do all the shops manage to get more and more crafty in hiding things in their windows?! We've spotted a local Estate Agent "selling" the Trotters' flat in Peckham (oops we might have given the game away on that one!) and we are loving the faces at our window as people try to spot our entry.

So far the town has been brimming with smiling faces and sunshine. Long may it continue!
