Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival

Written by Nadine Evans on

Get your walking boots out and clean your flask – it’s THE week to walk in Purbeck!

Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival provides lots of opportunity for guided walks across much of our wonderful countryside and coastline. The whole of the Dorset coast is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and there are many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Sites of Special Scientific Interest to enjoy.

You can immerse yourself in some amazing history too. Purbeck boasts the incredible Civil War ruin of Corfe Castle, the evacuated village of Tyneham and the home of Lawrence of Arabia. There are walks with a commemorative “war theme” to take you to Studland Bay where Winston Churchill, King George VI and Dwight Eisenhower watched the preparations for the D Day Landing.

There are amazing views from the Purbeck Hills too. A walk along Ballard Down gives you a chance to wonder at the beauty of Poole Harbour and beyond to Shaftesbury and Sherborne.

If a shorter walk is more your style, there are strolls along the seafront in Swanage, wildlife walks at Studland Heath, and photography strolls in Arne.

We are very proud to be a main sponsor of this fantastic Festival and are offering everyone who books a walk the chance to win a £50 voucher towards their next holiday with us. Now, there’s a good reason to brush off your Nordic Walking poles and pack your picnic!
