Not only a holiday hot spot in the summer, Bridport makes a great spot for a winter break as well. Bridport doesn’t let the chiller weather get in the way of its twice weekly market – you will find stalls through its wide streets all year round and it’s a great place to pick up a Christmas present or two! Book a holiday when the Christmas Cheer Shopping night takes place (on Wednesday 4th December 2019); from carol singing to the lantern procession to Santa's Grotto and live music to enjoy, it’s a great start to the festive period!
Winter walks from Bridport allow you to appreciate the beautiful countryside that surrounds the town. You can walk the fields to West Bay and take a stomp along the beach – this will definitely blow the cobwebs away! Or you could try one of the Bridport classics and head towards Colmers Hill in Symondsbury with its iconic scots pine trees – the best way to get there is via Hell Lane; a mysterious holloway with carvings in its gorge-like banks!
Bridport has the UK’s only thatched brewery – founded in 1794. It’s been brewing on the same site for 225 years! The wine shop is not to be missed - or a tour of the brewery itself! The Museum in South Street is free and open daily most of the year – where you can discover the dark history of one of Bridports most famous exports – the Bridport Dagger!
However you choose to spend your time in Bridport you won’t be far from a traditional country pub! So after a hard day exploring, find a nook next to an open fire and sit and relax – maybe try a Palmers Beer!
