"The refurbishment of my holiday home had been majorly delayed by the lockdown and there was a significant chance that I would miss the summer season completely. However, with Annabel’s support, hard work and enthusiasm, it was actually launched to the holiday market within just 36 hours of being ready and then went on to achieve an incredible 7 full weeks of summer bookings in the first few days of going live. My thanks go to Annabel and her team for such a speedy response!"

Meet our property managers:
Kelly Lane | East Dorset
I joined the team in April 2014 and I have worked within the industry for many years. My main role is to help owners get the most out of their properties for not only their benefit but also to ensure the customer has a fantastic experience. I also manage the Swanage office plus recruit new properties for our ever expanding portfolio and love looking round all the varied apartments, cottages and houses that Dorset has to offer.
I’ve lived in the Purbeck most of my life and consider myself lucky for doing so! I love exploring the outdoors with my two dogs, there’s so many places to choose from be it a coastal path, forest walk or trip to the beach - it’s a doggy paradise!!
Amy Pye | South Dorset
Dorset is my absolute favourite place! I spent my childhood in Weymouth but moved to Exeter in 2014 and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city for nearly 5 years. I have always known that Dorset is where I wanted to live long term, so moved back at the start of the year and now enjoy spending time catching up with friends and family, doing DIY around the house (badly) or walking my cocker spaniel Bruce along the beautiful coastlines!
As a Property Manager, my role is very interesting and varied – no 2 days are ever the same! I love being out and about meeting new homeowners and building lasting relationships with our existing owners too.
Laura Farnham | West Dorset
I’m lucky to have be born and bred in West Dorset and to have spent my childhood growing up on the beach and exploring hidden holloways. I joined Wyke Dorset Cottages in 2019 having spent the last 20 years working locally as an estate agent. Dorset has a huge amount to offer holiday makers from exploring the Jurassic Coast fossil hunting, attending all the local festival and shows – of which there are many! – to finding out more about the rich historic heritage of Dorset.
I’m excited to extend Wyke Dorset Cottages reputation into West Dorset and expand our presence into the beautiful area that I am proud to live in.
Our response to Coronavirus (Covid-19)
From the start of the pandemic, we have been focused on supporting our homeowners, guests and staff
Sending clear, regular communications
In a world with so many unknowns, we have cut through the noise to give our homeowners clear, regular and informed communications about the situation, what it means to them, how we’re adapting, and what they need to do to adapt.
Keeping safety our top priority
Our local teams have been equipped with all of the PPE necessary to continue visiting and servicing properties safely . Our photography teams have also adapted photoshoots, making them 'contact-free'.
Being there, whenever needed
We have made sure that we’re always available on the end of a phone or email, and the feedback from our homeowners has been fantastic – we, and they feel like our relationships have only strengthened during this time.
With holiday bookings now on the up, we are helping both new and existing homeowners to make their properties safe and ready for visitors. We understand our holidaymakers’ needs and are advising our owners on how to optimise their property – from facilities, to pricing – to achieve their booking potential.
Homeowner feedback we received during the pandemic:
Best of both worlds
Letting with Wyke Dorset Cottages provides you with the best of both worlds: truly local expertise coupled with national exposure.
We are very proud of our local roots in Dorset but also feel very privileged to be part of a larger family. Our parent company, Original Cottages has grown from humble kitchen-table beginnings to a national brand, however, as a family-owned company, their ethos has remained the same which is to provide the advantages of personal, local service but with countrywide reach.

Generating the highest profit for you
As a member of The Original Cottage Company, we have the support of a marketing and IT team who are committed to generating bookings for your property. This includes promotion on websites, use of social media, PR, advertising, events, as well as sending targeted information to our large database of customers and enquiries. The result of this investment is that we can attain the highest booking levels in the business. Our commission rates are extremely competitive too, so the result for you is high income and great value.
Providing unparalleled service and support
We’re proud of the relationships we have with our home owners, and will always go the extra mile to offer exceptional service. We have a local office in Dorset, so can pop out to see you as needed. We also have the support of a bookings team in Norfolk, who are on hand 7 days a week until late. If required, we have a strong network of housekeepers and trades, giving you peace of mind that your cottage will always be presented to an exceptional standard. We will monitor your bookings, and be proactive in discussing how things are going. We’re always there for you, and your guests.
Holiday cottage experts
We are a family business that started over 30 years ago. Since 2014, we have been owned by The Original Cottage Company, now the fourth largest holiday home letting agency in the UK. We have retained our local team, and their wealth of knowledge, but now also have the support of a much larger organisation, with enormous expertise in website design, search engine optimisation, and online marketing.
A local team
We are a local team with expert knowledge of Dorset and all it has to offer. Our expertise enables us to provide your guests with an unparalleled level of service and advice, to ensure they have a fantastic experience in this beautiful county.
A valued partner
We see the relationship with our home owners as a partnership. We’re friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. We aim to develop a long-term relationship with our home owners, many of whom have been with us for many years. We want to be able to offer Dorset holiday cottages that our guests love every year, and so work hard to ensure that we’re getting it right with our home owners, as well as the team supporting the property, from housekeepers to trades.
Available 7 days a week
The majority of guest bookings take place online, but some do want to talk to us. Whether that’s to make a holiday cottage booking, discuss a booking, or answer some questions about the local area, and so it’s important that we’re available 7 days a week.
Our booking line is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 6pm on Sunday.
Our Swanage office will take the calls during its opening hours between 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Saturday. When the office is closed, or if all our lines are busy, calls will be answered by our friendly Sales Support Team in Norfolk, who will take bookings, answer queries or ensure the customer receives a call back from the local Swanage team, if required.
Let's Talk Marketing
The primary objective of our marketing activity is to create new bookings, maximising the revenue potential of your property.
We are able to realise excellent booking rates using our extensive, targeted marketing programme:
Two thirds of holiday cottage bookings come from our Websites, and so we put a lot of time and effort into ensuring that they are user-friendly, work across all devices, offer a quality experience, and enable secure payment for our guests.
Our main website, www.dorsetcottages.com has excellent conversion rates, which means that people that view our holiday cottages actually book. All holiday cottages are also featured on our national website, www.originalcottages.co.uk, as well as www.lovecottages.co.uk, which features a large range of carefully selected holiday cottages from local agents. We also pay to list your holiday cottage on numerous affiliate websites, both in the UK and elsewhere across Europe, to ensure that your holiday cottage attains maximum exposure.
Our IT team work hard to ensure that we maintain our position in search engine results, and our marketing team use pay per click advertising where necessary.
We actively engage with guests and other people with an interest in us via our social media channels; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+. We encourage people to “like” us, “share” posts about us, and regularly run competitions to increase interest, and get more people following us. This has become another important tool to generate bookings.
We produce a lifestyle magazine, which showcases our Dorset holiday cottages, as well as Dorset as a destination. The magazine is distributed widely across Dorset, as well as being available to order online.
We send both printed materials and email newsletters to our large database. These communications are high quality, informative and well targeted. Our marketing team track the progress of the campaigns, to ensure that they generate a high rate of bookings
Press and advertising
We work closely with a number of local and national publications, event organisers and community publications to promote our holiday cottages. We focus on generating PR, and getting editorial or advertorial into publications. We’re always on the lookout ways to promote your holiday cottage!
We also advertise in the areas where our holiday cottages are located, to ensure that holiday makers are aware of us. Some of our staff drive branded cars, and we often place signs or banners in key positions.
Local shows and events
We often attend local and county shows, which is a great way to meet holiday makers and chat about our holiday cottages. We have high quality displays, and branded materials for people to take away with them.
Holiday properties as an investment
Staycations are experiencing a huge surge in demand and given the nature of UK self-catering breaks appealing to those looking for safe, environmentally friendly, cost-effective holidays, this is set to continue for some time to come.
Our experienced Property Recruiters frequently work with homeowners to help them select, furnish, manage and let their property, optimising their return on investment. Here is a summary of how we can help:
We can visit properties with you.
We can provide helpful feedback on the ‘letability’ of a property given its location and amenities.
We can offer practical advice on simple steps to improve the ROI of the property (e.g. interior design).
We can generate property proposals with rental rates and income.
We can support with the practical running of the holiday let, taking away any ongoing hassle.

"As newcomers to the holiday letting business we knew very little of what was required to get our property into shape and what an agent would be able to do for us. Kelly was happy to visit the property to give us some great advice and then be on hand to help with any queries. We’ve had an excellent booking rate and everything has worked like clockwork. They have always been very helpful, friendly and efficient."
Flat 5 Broadleys, Swanage
“We moved our agency to Wyke 3 years ago because of their good local reputation, and they’ve never disappointed. Always courteous and welcoming when we visit them in their quaint Swanage office, they are also helpful and prompt in replying to emails. Behind the scenes and with their local knowledge, if they can’t sort out a problem they know someone who can. We aren’t going to move our letting agency again.”
Spinners Hatch, Beaminster
“In early 2015 we decided to introduce a holiday cottage into our lettings business. Acknowledging that the two were very different we approached a number of Dorset holiday property letting agents, with varying degrees of response. The friendliest, and more to the point most helpful, was Wyke Dorset Cottages. They were extremely supportive in discussing area, type of property and furnishings/equipment that would be required. Throughout our period of acquisition and set-up they were always available when we needed advice. Much more than other agents were offering at that stage. Since then they have produced a number of lucrative lettings already in our first full season. We look forward to working with WDC on an on-going basis.”
“For the last few years we have let "Knollsea" with the help of Wyke Dorset Cottages. They first updated and upgraded the original company's technology which rendered the whole system efficient, speedy and completely reliable. As a result, the number of bookings rose immediately and are now the highest ever. The team of staff are helpful, understanding and considerate beyond expectations. They market the property professionally and create innovative discounts or offers. Most of all the team help and advise regarding Health and Safety issues, which contributes to owners' peace of mind.”
